#PlayerOnDeck is back—and the next story in the BULLPEN could be your player’s.
#PlayerOnDeck is back. Our baseball and softball player spotlight is returning to celebrate the players behind the jerseys—their effort, personality, love for the game, and the people cheering them on.
Some moments make the highlight reel. Others happen at practice, in the dugout, or on the ride home after a tough game. Both deserve to be remembered. That’s the heart of #PlayerOnDeck: giving a ballplayer a moment that feels like theirs.
What is #PlayerOnDeck?
#PlayerOnDeck is BULLPEN Originals’ player spotlight series. After purchasing a BPO box, families scan the QR code in the lid envelope to submit a player’s information, photos, and story. We use those details to prepare a baseball or softball player card and a social feature that introduces the person behind the number.
A favorite position. A team they love. A goal they’re chasing. The reason they keep showing up. Those details turn a photo into a story other ballplayers and families can connect with.
We’re relaunching the series because those stories belong in the BULLPEN. We want to keep making room for the players who bring the effort and love the game.
A player spotlight with heart

You don’t need a perfectly written biography to tell us about your player. Start with what makes them, them.
Perhaps they’ve learned a new position. They might have worked through a difficult stretch, encouraged a teammate, or found a new level of confidence. Or their favorite part of the weekend could simply be getting back on the field with their team.
Stats can be part of the story. They don’t have to be the whole story. We want to hear about the personality, progress, and everyday moments that a box score can’t capture.
Where did #PlayerOnDeck go?
After May, we paused our monthly #PlayerOnDeck features to focus on the Texas Brand Ambassador Contest. That competition takes a lot of time and heart, and we wanted to give those ballplayers the attention they deserved.
October was supposed to be our return. But a busy fall made something clear: we needed a better system to keep the player features moving. So we put more work into how we organize submissions and prepare cards before bringing #PlayerOnDeck back.
The goal is to make room for more player stories and keep the series moving consistently. Our planned monthly drawing windows are October through December and February through May, with a break around the Texas Brand Ambassador Contest.
How to join #PlayerOnDeck
Purchased a BPO box? Look for the #PlayerOnDeck information inside the lid envelope. Scan that QR code to access the submission form. #PlayerOnDeck submissions are for BPO box buyers, and the form is accessed through the QR code included with your purchase.
- Share the player’s details. Enter the player’s name, jersey number, sport, and team carefully. Use the player’s name in the player field and the parent or guardian’s details where requested.
- Add their story. Tell us what they love about baseball or softball, something they’re proud of, or a goal they’re working toward. Keep it in your own words.
- Upload clear player photos. Choose photos that show the player well. An action shot or a clear uniform photo can help bring the feature to life. Include the photo permissions requested on the form.
- Review before submitting. Double-check names, numbers, contact information, and purchase details so we can prepare an accurate feature.
A parent or guardian should help complete the submission. If something is missing or unclear, we may need to follow up before the feature can move forward.
What happens after you submit?
We review the submission and photos before preparing a player card and caption. We then work the feature into our Facebook and Instagram lineup. Submitting the form does not mean a post goes live immediately, so keep an eye on the contact information you provide for any follow-up.
Already been featured? A repeat feature requires another purchase and at least three calendar months since the previous feature was published. Use the repeat-feature question on the form so we can review the details.
⚡ The monthly BRUCE BOLT drawing

A player card gives a ballplayer a moment in the spotlight. At the end of each drawing month, we add a little extra BULLPEN excitement: a live drawing featuring that month’s #PlayerOnDeck cards.
If your player’s card is drawn, we send your family a link so your ballplayer can pick out their own BRUCE BOLT batting gloves. Choosing the gloves is part of the fun—this is their win and their chance to make the choice.
Once the winner makes their selection, we have the gloves shipped directly to them. From seeing their own player card to picking out a new pair of batting gloves, it’s another way to make that BPO moment feel personal.
We plan to hold drawings October–December and February–May. Follow BULLPEN Originals for live drawing announcements and to cheer on the ballplayers whose cards are on deck.
Player stories beyond the card
A player spotlight can also be the start of a bigger story. In the DUGOUT, we have room to share more about a player’s journey, their goals, and the moments that shaped their love for the game.
Our #PlayerOnDeck spotlight on Mary Bernyk is one example. And Mary’s ideas later helped inspire the story behind the SKY PATROL Award Box. That’s one of our favorite parts of BPO: ballplayers help shape what comes next.
Your player could be on deck
Baseball and softball give families plenty of moments worth celebrating. #PlayerOnDeck is one way we can help make one of those moments a little bigger.
